Eastfield Counseling Services provides free personal counseling services for currently enrolled students. Personal counseling can be a useful means to develop and maintain a sense of health and overall well-being. It provides a safe, affirming and non-judgmental environment for open exploration of concerns. Counseling can also supply resources and strategies to help replace unsuccessful thought patterns with more productive ways of thinking. Counseling is not part of academic records and is confidential.
Reasons students may seek counseling include:
Before the initial interview appointment, a currently enrolled student is required to complete the initial intake paperwork. This is only available digitally in the Counseling Center office, C140. Students may stop by any time during business hours to complete the paper work or arrive 20 minutes early to the first appointment.
Short term individual counseling may be offered to help students gain a deeper understanding of the sources of their difficulties. These insights are then translated into plans for action that the student can carry out in his or her daily life.
For issues that would be better resolved through a longer-term individual approach, an appropriate referral to a community provider may be recommended. We are unable to provide long-term therapy, medical treatment, psychological testing, court mandated therapy, or documentation for emotional support animals. However, we can provide referrals to agencies/organizations that offer these services.
