Within the Dallas County Community College District, Continuing Education delivers flexible, diverse, visionary instruction responsive to the needs of its public, private, and corporate citizens. Continuing Education provides workforce training, personal and professional development courses, and other outreach programs to enhance individual, community and economic development.
Community members and students are encouraged to let us know what courses they would like to see offered by calling or emailing us with suggestions. Students can also make their request by completing the evaluation form in each class. Call 972-860-7114 or email us at email@example.com.
Tuition must be paid in full at the time of enrollment or registration will be canceled. There are no payment plans for Continuing Education classes. There are four ways to enroll in a Continuing Education course:
No registration can be completed without the student's Social Security number and date of birth.
Scholarships are available through the Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG) program. Pick up the TPEG referral form and registration form in the Admissions Office (C119) at least two to three weeks prior to the beginning of the course. Student is responsible for taking the forms to the Financial Aid Office in C238. Student is also responsible for following up with the Financial Aid Office to determine approval. Once approval is given, student must bring paperwork back to Admissions to register for the class.
If your class is delayed or postponed, the Continuing Education office will make every effort to notify students by phone before the class begins. If your class is canceled you will receive an automatic 100% refund. In the case of bad or hazardous weather our website, local radio and TV stations will carry information on school closings.
When the class is designated as a professional or skill development course, certificates are awarded upon successful completion of class objectives.
Yes, you can. Prior to the first day of class, you may come by the Admissions Office or call by phone to drop a course or change from one course to another. If a refund results from the change, the difference will be mailed to you in about 4-6 weeks. If additional tuition is required, it must be paid at the time the add/drop is requested. All transfers are subject to the standard refund policy.
A 100% refund will be given if class is dropped prior to the close of business on the last business day preceding the first schedule meeting day. An 80% refund will be given if the class is dropped prior to the close of business on the day of the second scheduled meeting. No refund is available after the second class meeting. Petition for refund should be made to the Admissions Office, Building C, Room 119. Refunds require approximately 4 to 6 weeks to process. Policy is subject to revision.
Students will be notified of the need for textbooks or other materials either by the course description or at the first class meeting. In the event of a class cancellation, books and book store receipts must be returned no later than two weeks after the beginning of a course to receive your refund.
Unless otherwise stated in course publicity, the minimum age for Continuing Education participation is 18 years. Under certain circumstances, the minimum age may be waived by the Continuing Education office. The college accepts no responsibility for minors on the college premises outside the classes in which they enrolled.
A certificate program is a grouping of related courses designed to give students the desired skills needed to enter the workforce.
Successfully complete each course in the program, and demonstrate proficiency in required areas.
Yes. The prerequisites will vary from program. Prerequisites are listed under each certificate and course description. You may also contact the coordinator of your desired program.
Students must complete course work in two years. Exceptions may be considered on an individual basis. Many of our certificate programs can be completed in a year or less.
