Professor Imthurn has performed in venues including the AT&T Performing Arts Center, the Meyerson Symphony Center, and Casa Manana, as well as throughout North America. Upcoming performances include conducting the National Women’s Choral Festival at Carnegie Hall in New York City and singing in Barcelona, Spain.
A classical and musical theater singer, Professor Imthurn has interest in teaching soloists and vocal groups in all genres of music, with special training in Vocal Pedagogy for Contemporary Commercial Music. Her voice students perform on prominent stages and receive scholarships to distinguished colleges and universities. Her ensembles record and perform a wide variety of repertoire throughout the U.S.
Professor Imthurn is Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of The Women’s Chorus of Dallas, a community chorus with nine solo CD’s and performances all over North America to its credit. With the chorus, she has performed with notable artists such as the world renowned Kronos Quartet, pop icon Lesley Gore, and Broadway star Victoria Clark.
Professor Imthurn received her undergraduate degree in vocal music performance from Texas Woman’s University and continued her graduate studies there to receive a Master of Arts in vocal music pedagogy. She’s done postgraduate study at the University of North Texas and Shenandoah Conservatory and specialized musical theater training with Tony award winner Betty Buckley. She has taught music at Mountain View College and Cedar Valley College and has also been a radio announcer for WRR Classical 101.1 F.M.
At EFC, Professor Imthurn will focus on building a choral program in which students (both music majors and nonmajors) will have a great time learning music to perform at various events on campus. She will build a vocal studio for solo singers to improve their singing skills for music performance careers. She also looks forward to working with the drama department to build a Musical Theater program.
