What can I offer students? It is my desire to share my passion for the field of accounting with students and to help them realize the importance of education, being intellectually challenged and gaining professional development in their pursuit of achievement of their personal, professional and educational goals. To achieve this, it is my objective to create an environment of continual learning as well as an environment that demands student responsibility and accountability (“taking the reigns”) for their learning.

My role as a instructor is to guide and provide access to information rather than acting as the primary source of information. For students to construct knowledge, I believe students need the opportunity to discover it for themselves and practice these skills in authentic situations. My 8 years of professional experience in the corporate sector also allows me to provide real world examples and extended emphasis on course topics. It is important to me to provide a classroom setting that is active and engaging for the students; full of enriching activities that will challenge them and motivate them to meet their fullest potential.

What do I expect from students?

• Set educational goals and take responsibility for mapping out a plan to meet these goals
• Be prepared to learn and be intellectually challenged
• Strive to obtain academic excellence
• Be engaged and interactive
• Respect your professor and classmates and remain open to the diversity and individuality we each bring that can enhance the learning experience

What advice can I share with students from my experience?

“You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something—your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life." – Steve Jobs

Keep pushing and striving. Life has a way of working out in the way it is supposed to even though the path we may have taken it not the one we may have envisioned for ourselves. If you hit a road block, stop, redirect, but keep pressing on.
